The Anjaneya Bhujanga Prayata Stotram is a thirteen-verse hymn to Lord Hanuman composed in the serpentine bhujanga prayāta meter, whose flowing rhythm evokes the graceful movement of a snake. Each verse opens with the refrain bhajē ("I worship"), building a devotional litany that praises Hanuman's radiant golden form, mountain-like steadfastness, and fearless valor in battle. The hymn celebrates his role as the devoted servant of Lord Rama, the savior of Lakshmana's life, and the one who regards the mightiest weapons as mere blades of grass.
The stotram is ideal for morning or evening recitation, and its concluding verse promises that one who chants it—whether at dawn, dusk, or midnight, even while fasting—becomes freed from the net of accumulated sins and attains unwavering devotion to Lord Rama.

Verse 1
प्रसन्नाङ्गरागं प्रभाकाञ्चनाङ्गं
जगद्भीतशौर्यं तुषाराद्रिधैर्यम् ।
तृणीभूतहेतिं रणोद्यद्विभूतिं
भजे वायुपुत्रं पवित्राप्तमित्रम् ॥ 1 ॥
prasannāṅgarāgaṃ prabhākāñchanāṅgaṃ
jagadbhītaśauryaṃ tuṣārādridhairyam ।
tṛṇībhūtahētiṃ raṇōdyadvibhūtiṃ
bhajē vāyuputraṃ pavitrāptamitram ॥ 1 ॥
With a pleasing bodily glow, with limbs radiant as gold, with courage that terrifies the world, with the steadfastness of the snow-mountain — treating weapons as mere straws, with the glory of rising battle blazing forth — I worship Hanumān.

भजे पावनं भावना नित्यवासं
भजे बालभानु प्रभा चारुभासम् ।
भजे चन्द्रिका कुन्द मन्दार हासं
भजे सन्ततं रामभूपाल दासम् ॥ 2 ॥
bhajē pāvanaṃ bhāvanā nityavāsaṃ
bhajē bālabhānu prabhā chārubhāsam ।
bhajē chandrikā kunda mandāra hāsaṃ
bhajē santataṃ rāmabhūpāla dāsam ॥ 2 ॥
I worship the purifying one — who dwells eternally in the devotee's meditation — who shines with the beauty of the rising morning sun — whose smile is as white and gentle as moonlight, jasmine, and the mandāra flower — I worship the eternally celibate, ever-joyful Hanumān.

भजे लक्ष्मणप्राणरक्षातिदक्षं
भजे तोषितानेक गीर्वाणपक्षम् ।
भजे घोर सङ्ग्राम सीमाहताक्षं
भजे रामनामाति सम्प्राप्तरक्षम् ॥ 3 ॥
bhajē lakṣmaṇaprāṇarakṣātidakṣaṃ
bhajē tōṣitānēka gīrvāṇapakṣam ।
bhajē ghōra saṅgrāma sīmāhatākṣaṃ
bhajē rāmanāmāti samprāptarakṣam ॥ 3 ॥
I worship the supremely skilled protector of Lakṣmaṇa's life — who pleased the entire assembly of the gods — whose eyes were steady in the fierce battle — I worship the glorious mountain-son, the servant of Kāruṇyarāma (the compassionate Rāma).

कृताभीलनाधक्षितक्षिप्तपादं
घनक्रान्त भृङ्गं कटिस्थोरु जङ्घम् ।
वियद्व्याप्तकेशं भुजाश्लेषिताश्मं
जयश्री समेतं भजे रामदूतम् ॥ 4 ॥
kṛtābhīlanādhakṣitakṣiptapādaṃ
ghanakrānta bhṛṅgaṃ kaṭisthōru jaṅgham ।
viyadvyāptakēśaṃ bhujāślēṣitāśmaṃ
jayaśrī samētaṃ bhajē rāmadūtam ॥ 4 ॥
With feet deliberately placed upon the ground — with bees hovering around like a dark cloud — with hair filling the sky — with arms embracing mountains — I bow to the gigantic form of Hanumān who terrified the demons.

Verse 5
चलद्वालघातं भ्रमच्चक्रवालं
कठोराट्टहासं प्रभिन्नाब्जजाण्डम् ।
महासिंहनादा द्विशीर्णत्रिलोकं
भजे चाञ्जनेयं प्रभुं वज्रकायम् ॥ 5 ॥
chaladvālaghātaṃ bhramachchakravāḻaṃ
kaṭhōrāṭṭahāsaṃ prabhinnābjajāṇḍam ।
mahāsiṃhanādā dviśīrṇatrilōkaṃ
bhajē chāñjanēyaṃ prabhuṃ vajrakāyam ॥ 5 ॥
With his swinging tail dealing blows, whirling like a chakra — with his fearsome, thundering roar — bursting asunder the cosmic egg (brahmāṇḍa) — the great lion-roar splitting the three worlds in two — I bow to Hanumān.

Verse 6
रणे भीषणे मेघनादे सनादे
सरोषे समारोपणामित्र मुख्ये ।
खगानां घनानां सुराणां च मार्गे
नटन्तं समन्तं हनूमन्तमीडे ॥ 6 ॥
raṇē bhīṣaṇē mēghanādē sanādē
sarōṣē samārōpaṇāmitra mukhyē ।
khagānāṃ ghanānāṃ surāṇāṃ cha mārgē
naṭantaṃ samantaṃ hanūmantamīḍē ॥ 6 ॥
In the terrifying battlefield, roaring with the sound of Meghanāda (Indrajit's thunder-weapon) — with fierce, surging enemies mounted to the fore — dancing in the paths of birds, clouds, and gods — I bow to Hanumān who is beyond all.

Verse 7
घनद्रत्न जम्भारि दम्भोलि भारं
घनद्दन्त निर्धूत कालोग्रदन्तम् ।
पदाघात भीताब्धि भूतादिवासं
रणक्षोणिदक्षं भजे पिङ्गलाक्षम् ॥ 7 ॥
ghanadratna jambhāri dambhōḻi bhāraṃ
ghanaddanta nirdhūta kālōgradantam ।
padāghāta bhītābdhi bhūtādivāsaṃ
raṇakṣōṇidakṣaṃ bhajē piṅgaḻākṣam ॥ 7 ॥
With a dense jeweled thunderbolt from Indra (jambhāri), heavy as his pride — with massive, teeth-striking teeth that shook off even Kāla's terrible tooth — with the earth trembling at the blow of his foot — I bow to Rāma's servant, Hanumān.

महाग्राहपीडां महोत्पातपीडां
महारोगपीडां महातीव्रपीडाम् ।
हरत्यस्तु ते पादपद्मानुरक्तो
नमस्ते कपिश्रेष्ठ रामप्रियाय ॥ 8 ॥
mahāgrāhapīḍāṃ mahōtpātapīḍāṃ
mahārōgapīḍāṃ mahātīvrapīḍām ।
haratyastu tē pādapadmānuraktō
namastē kapiśrēṣṭha rāmapriyāya ॥ 8 ॥
Great crocodile affliction, great calamity affliction, great disease affliction, great intense affliction — all these are destroyed for one who is devoted to your lotus-feet. Salutations to you, the formidable one.

Verse 9
जराभारतो भूरि पीडां शरीरे
निराधारणारूढ गाढ प्रतापी ।
भवत्पादभक्तिं भवद्भक्तिरक्तिं
कुरु श्रीहनूमत्प्रभो मे दयालो ॥ 9 ॥
jarābhāratō bhūri pīḍāṃ śarīrē
nirādhāraṇārūḍha gāḍha pratāpī ।
bhavatpādabhaktiṃ bhavadbhaktiraktiṃ
kuru śrīhanūmatprabhō mē dayāḻō ॥ 9 ॥
Bearing the heavy burden of old age afflicting the body — standing without any support, powerful and mighty — make me devoted to your feet, make me filled with devotion to you — please, O Śrī Hanumān.

Verse 10
महायोगिनो ब्रह्मरुद्रादयो वा
न जानन्ति तत्त्वं निजं राघवस्य ।
कथं ज्ञायते मादृशे नित्यमेव
प्रसीद प्रभो वानरेन्द्रो नमस्ते ॥ 10 ॥
mahāyōginō brahmarudrādayō vā
na jānanti tattvaṃ nijaṃ rāghavasya ।
kathaṃ jñāyatē mādṛśē nityamēva
prasīda prabhō vānarēndrō namastē ॥ 10 ॥
Great yogīs, Brahma, Rudra, and others — even they do not know the inner truth of Śrī Rāghava (Rāma). How then can it be known by one like me who is always thus (ordinary)? Therefore I take refuge at the feet of Hanumān, who knows that truth.

Verse 11
नमस्ते महासत्त्ववाहाय तुभ्यं
नमस्ते महावज्रदेहाय तुभ्यम् ।
नमस्ते परीभूत सूर्याय तुभ्यं
नमस्ते कृतामर्त्य कार्याय तुभ्यम् ॥ 11 ॥
namastē mahāsattvavāhāya tubhyaṃ
namastē mahāvajradēhāya tubhyam ।
namastē parībhūta sūryāya tubhyaṃ
namastē kṛtāmartya kāryāya tubhyam ॥ 11 ॥
Salutations to you — bearer of great strength (mahā-sattva) — salutations to you — bearer of a body hard as the great thunderbolt — salutations to you — who has transcended (surpassed) the sun — salutations to you — the son of Añjanā.

Verse 12
नमस्ते सदा ब्रह्मचर्याय तुभ्यं
नमस्ते सदा वायुपुत्राय तुभ्यम् ।
नमस्ते सदा पिङ्गलाक्षाय तुभ्यं
नमस्ते सदा रामभक्ताय तुभ्यम् ॥ 12 ॥
namastē sadā brahmacharyāya tubhyaṃ
namastē sadā vāyuputrāya tubhyam ।
namastē sadā piṅgaḻākṣāya tubhyaṃ
namastē sadā rāmabhaktāya tubhyam ॥ 12 ॥
Salutations to you — always observing celibacy (brahmacarya) — salutations to you — always the son of Vāyu — salutations to you — always tawny-eyed (piṅgalākṣa) — salutations to you — always Rāma's servant.

Verse 13
हनूमद्भुजङ्गप्रयातं प्रभाते
प्रदोषेऽपि वा चार्धरात्रेऽपि मर्त्यः ।
पठन्नश्नतोऽपि प्रमुक्तोघजालो
सदा सर्वदा रामभक्तिं प्रयाति ॥ 13 ॥
hanūmadbhujaṅgaprayātaṃ prabhātē
pradōṣē'pi vā chārdharātrē'pi martyaḥ ।
paṭhannaśnatō'pi pramuktōghajālō
sadā sarvadā rāmabhaktiṃ prayāti ॥ 13 ॥
A mortal who recites this Hanumad-Bhujanga Prayāta [stotram] — in the morning, or at dusk, or even at midnight — even while eating — is freed from the entire net of great sins, and attains liberation (mukti).

इति श्रीमदाञ्जनेय भुजङ्गप्रयात स्तोत्रम् ।
iti śrīmadāñjanēya bhujaṅgaprayāta stōtram ।
