About this stotra
Ganesha Pancharathnam means: the sacred hymn of the five gems in praise of Lord Ganesha.
Lord Ganesha, also known as Vinayaka or Ganapati, is one of the most revered deities in Hinduism. He is widely worshipped as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. Lord Ganesha is easily recognizable by his elephant head and is often invoked at the beginning of rituals and ceremonies.
The Lord Ganesha Pancharathnam is a devotional hymn consisting of five verses that extol the virtues and powers of Lord Ganesha. The first verse praises Lord Ganesha as the joyful bearer of modaka (a sweet made of coconut and jaggery), the bestower of liberation, and the protector of the world. He is depicted as the sole leader who destroys obstacles and the negative forces represented by demons. The second verse describes Lord Ganesha as a radiant and formidable presence, who is worshipped by gods and capable of uplifting those in distress. He is acknowledged as the lord of all, including wealth and the celestial beings. The third verse highlights Lord Ganesha's role as a benefactor of the universe, a destroyer of demonic forces, and a source of grace, forgiveness, joy, and fame. The fourth verse focuses on Lord Ganesha's unique and inconceivable form, emphasizing his role as a constant presence in the hearts of yogis and his ability to remove obstacles. The final verse promises that those who recite this hymn with devotion every morning, while remembering Lord Ganesha, will be blessed with health, prosperity, good fortune, and a fulfilling life. The hymn is a powerful invocation seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for a life free of obstacles and filled with success and well-being.

मुदा करात्तमोदकं सदा विमुक्तिसाधकं

I bow to that Vinayaka, who joyfully holds the modaka in His hand, who is ever the bestower of liberation, who has Shiva (the bearer of the crescent moon) as His crest ornament, and who gracefully protects the worlds.
