udyannadyavivasvānārōhannuttarāṃ divaṃ dēvaḥ ।
hṛdrōgaṃ mama sūryō harimāṇaṃ chā''śu nāśayatu ॥ 1 ॥
The Sun (Vivasvān), rising today and ascending higher in the northern sky — may that Sūrya swiftly destroy the heart-disease (hṛd-roga) and the jaundice (harimāṇa) within me.

Verse 2
nimiṣārdhēnaikēna dvē cha śatē dvē sahasrē dvē ।
kramamāṇa yōjanānāṃ namō'stu tē naḻinanāthāya ॥ 2 ॥
Traversing two hundred, two thousand, and two [more] thousand yojanas (units of distance) in half the blink of an eye — salutations to you, O lord of the lotus (Nalina-nātha, the Sun who opens lotuses).

Verse 3
karmajñānakhadaśakaṃ manaścha jīva iti viśvasargāya ।
dvādaśadhā yō vicharati sa dvādaśamūrtirastu mōdāya ॥ 3 ॥
He who moves in twelve forms — the five organs of action, five organs of knowledge, the mind, and the jīva (individual soul) — for the purpose of the world's creation — may that twelve-formed one (Dvādaśa-mūrti) bring us joy.

tvaṃ hi yajūṛksāmaḥ tvamāgamastvaṃ vaṣaṭkāraḥ ।
tvaṃ viśvaṃ tvaṃ haṃsaḥ tvaṃ bhānō paramahaṃsaścha ॥ 4 ॥
You are the Yajur Veda, the Ṛg Veda, the Sāma Veda — you are the Āgama (Tantra scripture) — you are the vaṣaṭkāra (the ritual exclamation) — you are the universe, you are the haṃsa (the individual soul / the sacred bird) — O Sun! You are the Paramahahṃsa (the supreme soul) too.

Verse 5

śivarūpāt jñānamahaṃ tvattō muktiṃ janārdanākārāt ।
śikhirūpādaiśvaryaṃ tvattaśchārōgyamichChāmi ॥ 5 ॥
O Sun — from your Śiva-form (the auspicious, fiery form) I seek knowledge; from your Janārdana-form (the Viṣṇu-form) I seek liberation; from your Agni-form (fire aspect) I seek sovereignty; and from you I seek health.

Verse 6

tvachi dōṣā dṛśi dōṣāḥ hṛdi dōṣā yē'khilēndriyajadōṣāḥ ।
tān pūṣā hatadōṣaḥ kiñchidrōṣāgninā dahatu ॥ 6 ॥
The defects of the skin, the defects of the eyes, the defects of the heart, and all defects arising from every sense organ — may Pūṣan (the Sun as nourisher), who has destroyed all defects, burn them away with a small fire of anger.

Verse 7
dharmārthakāmamōkṣapratirōdhānugratāpavēgakarān ।
bandīkṛtēndriyagaṇān gadān vikhaṇḍayatu chaṇḍāṃśuḥ ॥ 7 ॥
O fierce-rayed Sun (Caṇḍāṃśu) — may you shatter the diseases that obstruct the four aims of life (dharma, artha, kāma, mokṣa), that cause intense affliction, and that have imprisoned and bound the entire company of senses.
॥ ८ ॥♪ CHANTING NOW
Verse 8
yēna vinēdaṃ timiraṃ jagadētya grasati charamacharamakhilam ।
dhṛtabōdhaṃ taṃ naḻinībhartāraṃ hartāramāpadāmīḍē ॥ 8 ॥
Without whom this darkness seizes the entire world — moving and unmoving — I praise that lord of the lotus (Nalina-bhartā), the holder of light (dhṛta-bodha), the destroyer of adversities.

Verse 9

yasya sahasrābhīśōrabhīśu lēśō himāṃśubimbagataḥ ।
bhāsayati naktamakhilaṃ bhēdayatu vipadgaṇānaruṇaḥ ॥ 9 ॥
Even a fraction (leśa) of the rays of him who has a thousand rays — entering the disc of the cool-rayed moon — illuminates the entire night. May Aruṇa (the Sun's charioteer / the dawn) shatter our multitudes of adversities.

timiramiva nētratimiraṃ paṭalamivā'śēṣarōgapaṭalaṃ naḥ ।
kāśamivādhinikāyaṃ kālapitā rōgayuktatāṃ haratāt ॥ 10 ॥
As the Sun disperses eye-darkness (timir), may Kāla's father (the Sun, who is Kāla's father — or, Time's father, i.e., the Sun who governs time) dispel for us the mass of all diseases like a veil — and the entire aggregation of mental afflictions like darkness.

grahaṇībhagandharākhyā mahatīstvaṃ mē rujō haṃsi ॥ 11 ॥
You destroy in me the diseases of wind (vāta), urinary calculi (aśmarī), piles (arśas), skin diseases (tvag-doṣa), abdominal diseases (mahodara), diabetes (prameha), conditions of the rectum (grahaṇī), and the great conditions named bhagandara (fistula) — O Sun.

tvaṃ trātā tvaṃ hartā vipadāmarka prasīda mama bhānō ॥ 12 ॥
You are my mother, you are my refuge, you are the sustainer, you are my wealth, you are my teacher. You are my protector, you are the remover of adversities, O Sun — be gracious to me.
