About this stotra
The Aikamatya Suktam comprises the final hymn of the Rig Veda (10.191), a powerful invocation for unity and harmony. Addressed to Agni, the sacred fire who serves as the divine witness and unifier, this brief but profound hymn calls upon people to come together in thought, speech, and purpose.
The verses emphasize collective harmony through memorable refrains: saṅgacchadhvaṃ saṃvadadhvaṃ — "come together, speak together" — and samānā hṛdayāni vaḥ — "may your hearts be united." The hymn invokes the example of the devas, who in ancient times shared their portions equally because they understood one another. This sukta is traditionally chanted at the beginning of assemblies, conferences, and group rituals to establish an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation.
Regular recitation is said to foster harmony in families, communities, and organizations, dissolving discord and cultivating the spirit of working together toward shared goals.
