About this stotra

The Sri Narasimha Kavacham is a powerful protective hymn from the Brahmanda Purana, presented as the teaching that Prahlada — the great devotee who was himself saved by Lord Narasimha — shared with others. A kavacham (literally "armor") is designed to invoke divine protection over every part of the body, and this text does so by calling upon the fierce half-man, half-lion form of Vishnu.
The hymn opens with a vivid meditation on Lord Narasimha seated on a golden throne, three-eyed and radiant as the autumn moon, embraced by Lakshmi on his left side. A striking verse describes him roaring and causing others to roar, striking terror among demons across heaven and earth, glancing in every direction while showering arrows — capturing the overwhelming dynamism of this protective deity. The body of the kavacham then systematically invokes Narasimha's protection upon each limb and faculty of the devotee.
PhalashrutiGrants complete protection from all dangers and calamitiesBestows wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousnessLeads the devotee toward both worldly happiness and ultimate liberation
