About this stotra
Daridrya Dahana Lord Shiva Stotram means: the hymn to Lord Shiva that burns away poverty.
Lord Shiva is one of the principal deities in Hinduism, known as the destroyer and transformer within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. He is revered as the supreme being who creates, protects, and transforms the universe. Lord Shiva is often depicted with a third eye, a crescent moon on his head, and the river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, symbolizing his power and benevolence.
This stotram is a devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva, seeking his blessings to alleviate the sufferings caused by poverty and hardship. Each verse praises different attributes and deeds of Lord Shiva. The first verse addresses him as the universal lord who rescues devotees from the ocean of hell, with a form as pure as camphor and adorned with the crescent moon. The second verse highlights his love for Goddess Parvati, his role as the vanquisher of time, and his adornment with the serpent as a bracelet. The third verse emphasizes his affection for devotees, his ability to remove the fear of worldly existence, and his radiant, virtuous nature. The fourth verse describes him as the lord of liberation, the bestower of fruits, and the one who rides the bull, wearing an elephant skin. The final verse attributes the composition of the stotram to Sage Vasishtha and promises that regular recitation can remove all diseases, bring prosperity, and increase progeny, ultimately leading the devotee to heaven. The hymn is a powerful invocation for relief from material distress and the attainment of spiritual and worldly benefits through the grace of Lord Shiva.
